AB 2553 California Transit Housing Law Explained

California quietly changed the rules on parking, transit, and ADU's-and if you're a homeowner that's not aware, you should be.

AB 2553 expanded the definition of a major transit stop from bus routes running every 15 minutes to every 20 minutes. Sounds small doesn't it? But it's not. More properties NOW qualify as being near a major transit stop, which means no required parking for new developments, lower traffic impact fees for housing, and ADU's near those stops can be taller with no parking requirement.

Does it fix the housing crisis? Hard to say. Does it change what you can build-and where? Possibly yes.

These laws are already in affect and your property could be affected. Our team is here to answer any questions. If you'd like to learn more, click the link below.
